Keep un-watermarked originals in their own folder, separate from the watermarked exports you share. When a dispute ever arises, the person holding the original full-resolution file with intact metadata has the strongest position.
Step 5: Check where your photos end up
Reverse image search closes the loop. Google Images and TinEye both let you search by uploading a photo, showing you every indexed page where it appears. Spot-check your most shared images every few months. If you find unauthorized use, start with a polite message, escalate to a DMCA takedown with the hosting platform if ignored, and involve a copyright attorney only for commercial or repeat offenders.
